Iowa has been a Cruiser’s kind of place this month! This weekend we headed
to Marshalltown. On Saturday, Copper (Bell/Ralph) earned his 2nd major going
Best of Breed, Best of Winner’s, Winner’s Dog. Willow (Star/Tok) did not
disappoint again, she went Best of Opposite, Winner’s Bitch for another 2
points and then added her first Rally Novice leg and a 4th place to the mix.
Sunday was again our day; Willow earned her 2nd major and 11th point in just 2
weeks going Best of Breed, Best of Winner’s, Winner’s Bitch (her 3rd breed
win in 4 days) and a 2nd RN leg and 3rd place. Copper earns his 3rd major and
is at 10 points going Best of Opposite, Winner’s Dog. Plus a wonderful
compliment from Judge Judy Goodin!
Thank goodness I was there to see it with my own eyes. I was going crazy
missing Radar at home, so I left at 4am to head to the show, so thankful I did.
Friends always make the heart feel better.
Willow, in the ring for the only the second time, the first being the start of the
year, made a HUGE impression of the judges in Waterloo! Saturday she was
awarded Best of Breed, Best of Winner’s, Winner’s Bitch and Best Puppy from
Breeder Judge Evelyn Hilbert. This beautiful Star/Tok 10 month old daughter
followed that up with a Sporting Group 4 and Puppy Group 1 under Robert
Salsbury. Willow is our first puppy to place in the Sporting Group and she did it
owner handled with Ron. You two are a wonderful duo to watch! Her mom Star
was happy to be awarded Select Bitch and proudly stand behind her daughter.
Sunday was a family affair for us. Star turned 7, although you’d never know
looking at her that she has hit her “Veteran” years. She was again awarded
Select bitch, which finished her Grand Championship on her birthday! In front
of her was her son Jaxon (Star/Major) going Best of Opposite, Winner’s Dog
and Best Bred By and her young daughter Willow again going Best of Breed,
Best of Winner’s and Winner’s Bitch. Jaxon went on to a Sporting Bred By
Group 1 to end the day.
If this wasn’t enough, we received news that Cruiser’s West was at another
hunt test. Star/Tok puppy Olive added another 2 JH passes over the weekend,
Ella added another and Cooper got on the board with his first JH pass. Just
when you’d think the news couldn’t get any better, it just keeps coming and
The clouds parted, the sun shined for a few minutes and the tears fell as we
said goodbye to the one that started this crazy ride. After a week of steady
downfall from what we believe to be a brain tumor, Radar left us for the
Rainbow Bridge. One of my hardest days to date. I’ll miss you buddy, copilot,
We have our first Master Hunter, and he is a Grand Champion to boot! Zeke
earned his Master Hunter title on the home turf in front of friends this
Saturday. At just over 20 months, this boy has been magnificent to watch. Pat
did all of his training and trials and has never put an e-collar on his boys. Zeke
is out of the Holly/Tok breeding.
The Star/Tok puppies made a big splash also on the Junior course. Olive, Ella
and Gauge all received passes, Cooper came very close and Newt earned his
4th and final leg for his JH title. I am so excited that I got to be there to see
this. I can honestly say that I have some of the best homes possible!
Pat and Zeke head to Oklahoma and earn another Master Hunter leg to put
within one leg of his MH title! Go boys!
This weekend, the Cruiser’s Clan takes the country by storm! In Cruiser’s
Central, Brew, a Hunter son, earns his first major and looks fantastic doing it.
On Sunday half brother Bosco (Mikki/Hunter) goes Winner’s Dog and adds 2
more points in his Win column.
A little further west, Karma (Holly/Tok) hits the Nebraska show and adds points
going Winner’s Bitch and Best of Winner’s on Sunday.
I know they say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but this news just has
to get out. Also this weekend in the city that never sleeps, Tad takes a gamble
on Zeke, Newt and Ella and it pays off big! Saturday Newt hits the jackpot with
Winner’s Dog, which also makes his a new Champion and the first to reach this
(at 10 months old) from the Star/Tok litter. Sister Ella goes Best of Opposite,
Best of Winner’s and Winner’s Bitch and half brother Zeke (Holly/Tok) goes
breed for another Grand Champion major. Sunday, Ella again is awarded
Winner’s Bitch, which makes her a Champion also. Brother Newt as a move-up
earns Best of Breed for a 5-point Grand Champion major and Zeke is awarded
Select Dog to earn his Grand Championship! Congrats to Tad Walden for
finishing these beautiful puppies from the Bred By Class, Pat & Jacqueline
Koprowski, Zeke and Newt’s owners and Glen & Deb Merchant, Ella’s owners.
We end March on very positive notes. Here at home, both Sonya and Willow
earned their CGC certificates. Way to go girls! Out to the west, Pat had the
wonder boy trio running hunt tests again. They rocked the trial as they were
the only ones to get 2 passes each. Zeke now has 3 passes towards his
Master Hunter and Newt has 3 passes towards his Junior Hunter.
Mid-March brought an ever exciting entry for our young Karma, as she entered
a local walking field trial. How exciting to see our dogs and owners out there
doing what they enjoy! Nice job Karma and daddy Marc.
Plus let us now forget how much fun Boca is having running agility. She is
getting better with every trial and the star's are the limit for this girl!
Is there a better way to start the Spring than with Hunting tests Q's? I think not
as both Zeke and Newt proved the first weekend of March in Missouri. Zeke
warned his first Master Hunter (MH) leg and Baby Boy Newt earned his first
Junior Hunter (JH) leg. Way to go boys and daddy Pat.
Jill was fortunate to fly to Denver for a 4-day show cluster, Specialty weekend
on February 18-21. And she came home all SMILES! On Friday, Ella, a Star
clone went Winner's Bitch for another major and is at 11 points. Saturday at
the Specialty, Gauge shined. He went Winner's Dog, Best Bred By and onto a
Bred By Sporting Group 1!! This was Gauge's first weekend and we are thrilled
with him taking home a major.
We were competitive the rest of the weekend, Zeke earned another 5 point
Grand Champion major points and is now at 21 points. Karma was also very
competitive in a very stiff Open Bitch class. After a fun filled weekend, it was
enjoyable to come home to the puppies.
Star and Remington welcomed 4 Starlets on Friday the 11th!
Darlin' and Sam welcomed 10 perfect puppies on Monday the 7th!
Phoenix is a Cruiser's kind of town. Litter mates Newt and Ella took a little trip
for a 5-day cluster in Phoenix and big brother Zeke came too. What a cluster it
was for them. Thursday in Ella's debut, she took Reserve Winner's Bitch. Zeke
was awarded Breed and earned 5 points towards his Grand Championship.
Friday was an excellent day for the litter mates. Newt takes Winner's Dog for a
3 point major, Ella not to be outdone takes Winner's Bitch / Best of Winner's for
a 3 point major of her own.
Saturday at the All-Breed, Zeke is again the Best of Breed, that evening at the
Specialty he also wins the Hunting Dog class. Grandma Geli is awarded Select
Bitch for a 5 point Grand Champion Major. Sunday the litter mates strike again.
Newt is Winner's Dog / Best of Winner's for yet another major. Ella follows up
the brother / sister challenge going Winner's Bitch / Best of Opposite over
several nice specials. Zeke also earns a Select Dog.
Monday, the last day of the cluster is a good day for Newt again. He goes
Winner's Dog, going home to Colorado with 14 points. Such great successes
for all these young dogs.
The mid-winter cold took us down to Des Moines, IA the weekend of the 22 and
23. Ema went Winner's Bitch and Best of Winner's on Saturday for a point and
Mikki was Reserve. They flipped on Sunday with Mikki going Winner's Bitch
and Ema Reserve.
The new year always mean the first show of the season at River Center in St
Paul. The Land O' Lakes show was a great one for young Maverick. With Eva
at the end of the lead, Maverick went Winner's Dog on Saturday, January 8 for
a 4-point major. Sunday he followed up with Reserve Winner's Dog. We are so
proud of this Star/Tok puppy.
We are pleased to announce that we have confirmed that both Darlin and
Star's breedings were successful!
The start of a new year also bring the start of some new dogs competing.
